About Montana fishing

Montana is home to some of the best fly fishing rivers, lakes, and spring creeks on Earth. The vast variety of waters and hundreds of miles of blue ribbon rivers and streams are filled with an amazing diversity of wild trout.

Many of the world's most famous trout streams such as the Yellowstone, Gallatin, Snake, and Madison originate inside of Yellowstone National Park. Many of the waters on the Eastern side of Yellowstone Park are home to native dry fly loving Yellowstone cutthroat trout. On the Western side of the park, rainbow and brown trout are more abundant. Brook trout can also be found in many of the smaller mountain streams.

Originating from underground aquifers, the abundant spring creeks offer some of the most challenging fly fishing conditions for wild trout in the world. Trout densities are extremely high in these natural fisheries. Many anglers consider spring creek fly fishing to be the ultimate challenge in the sport.
