Southeast Kansas Outfitters is not a large outfitting business. We do not have a big fancy lodge and gourmet meals, but what we do have is some of the finest trophy whitetail hunting in the country. We book hunts to just a small limited number of hunters each year, and book hunts only to serious hunters that will be committed to do what it takes to harvest a trophy buck. We do not want to “baby sit” hunters. We provide hunters with a quality place to hunt and nice comfortable stands, we insure hunters know their way to and from stands then stay back from area until needed. Less traffic, equals less scent left behind. We encourage hunters to stay in their stands and hunt hard “ALL DAY”. The more hours you put in your stand the better your odds will be for scoring a trophy buck. Some of our biggest bucks killed were between the hours of 10:00-2:00.
Our hunters stay in good clean motels. Meals can be found at the many restaurants in town. Everything from McDonalds to the best steak houses in the state can be found in Pittsburgh and surrounding area. Due to Southeast Kansas Outfitters hunting in 5 different counties, we usually stay in the cities of Pittsburgh or Parsons, which is centrally located to all our hunting property. Most hunts are a 15-30 min. drive from the motels. We have found that most hunters prefer having the privacy of their own motel room to shower and relax after a long day in the stand, compared to a lodge filled with tired snoring hunters keeping them awake all night.
Your hunt begins at 5:00 am. Hunters and guides gather at the motel for breakfast to prepare and discuss the day’s hunt. Guide will take hunters to their stand or make sure they find it on their own from the parking areas. Transportation to the hunting area can be provided (if arranged). Hunters have their choice of hunting from box blinds, tower stands, tree stands, ladder stands, and ground blinds. Guide will stay in contact with hunters via radio , cell phone, or text message throughout the day or when needed. All hunts are a 1 guide to 2-3 hunters basis. Hunts are on foot only, so hunters must be able to walk ¼ to ½ mile to their stands. Guide will track, clean, and dress out your deer for you. We will cape out your trophy and prepare your trophy for the taxidermist or trip home.
Above all, hunters must take it serious if they want to harvest a Monster Buck. You don’t just get “LUCKY” to consistently kill big bucks like we do here at Southeast Kansas Outfitters. Hunters must put in long hours in the stand and endure freezing weather waiting for that one chance to get a shot at a trophy buck, and as we all know Big Bucks usually only give you one chance! We spend countless hours scouting, watching and patterning individual bucks so we know the deer and pinpoint the right location to place your stand. You can be assured the property you are hunting has some quality bucks on it. All hunts are fair chase and S.E.K.O. does not guarantee hunters will harvest a buck, but we have had an excellent success rate with a 75% shot opportunity for all our hunters on bucks scoring 140 or better, and 25% of our "Hunters have either seen or had a shot opportunity at bucks" scoring over 170 B&C. We usually run a 55-80% success rate year to year
