About trip
You’ll be hunting 8000 acres of prime, privately owned, farmland located in the heart of the Mississippi Flyway. You’ll be hunting right in the middle of the North American “super-highway” for ducks and geese during their yearly fall migration. Our 8000 acres is made up of roughly 7000 acres of corn, soybean, and wheat fields and an additional 1000 acres of cypress and hardwoods. During hunting season, approximately 4000 acres are flooded by the backwaters of the Tallahatchie river, creating one the premier resting and feeding spots for the thousands of ducks and geese passing overhead daily. The combination of location, right in the middle of the Mississippi flyway, and the vast amounts of flooded rich farmland, creates a duck hunters paradise. While on your hunt you can expect to encounter a variety of duck species including green heads, wood ducks, gadwalls, pintails, and shovelers.

A typical day of hunting begins @ 5:30 AM, when your guide arrives at your lodging facility to escort you to your hunting location. By 6:30 AM you’ll be hunting. We use a variety blinds including natural cover, pit blinds, and flooded timber. While out on your hunt, you’ll be accompanied by an experienced guide, a helper, and a retriever. They’re all dedicated to ensuring that you have the most enjoyable trip possible. They’ll spread decoys, call, and retrieve. Your only responsibility is to enjoy yourself. Each hunting party is limited to no more than 4 hunters. Larger groups will be broken up into multiple hunting parties.

shooterIf you’re the do-it-yourself type, you’re welcomed to do some calling. We have kennels on property, so feel free to bring your own retriever if you would like. However, if you choose to bring a female dog, please make sure she is not in heat. If you do bring your own dog, you’ll be responsible for the care of the dog while you’re staying with us.

All duck hunts are 3 hours long, but don’t be surprised if you reach your limit early. After a successful day of hunting your guide will escort you to the main lodge for brunch. If you’re staying with us for more than one hunt, you’ll be returned to your lodge for some afternoon rest and relaxation. You can choose to do some afternoon hunting, or wait until the next morning’s hunt if you would prefer.
