Gabantin 300
Capsule is an antiepileptic medicine that reduces seizures by binding to a
specific brain cell site. It is used to treat neuropathic pain (nerve pain due
to nerve damage) and epilepsy in adults and children.
It is also used to
manage nerve pain caused by untreated herpes viral infection in children and
elderly patients.
Before you take
this medicine, tell your doctor if you have:
Any medical
conditions such as heart problems, diabetes, or mental illness.
You are pregnant
or breastfeeding, or plan to become pregnant.
Talk to your
doctor about the risks of using this medicine during pregnancy and
breastfeeding.
This medicine may
increase your risk of developing kidney problems. It may also cause you to develop
new or worsened mental health and behavior problems.
If you have any of
these symptoms, stop taking gabantin 300 and call your doctor.
Your doctor will
start you on a low dose and slowly increase your dose until the best level is
reached for you.
The usual dose is
300mg to 600mg taken three times a day. The gaps between doses should not
exceed 12 hours.
You should not
take this medicine if you are allergic to gabantin or its ingredients. You
should also not use this medicine if you have had a severe allergic reaction to
another antiepileptic drug in the past.
Avoid consuming
alcohol with this medicine, as it can make you sleepy and increase your risk of
drowsiness. It can also affect your breathing and make it harder to drive or do
other activities that require you to be alert.
